Nixon Falls began with Sonny Corinthos (Maurice Bernard), but as time moves on, this GH spinoff seems to be an extension of Nina’s psyche. Nina Reeves (Cynthia Watros) has found a world that makes sense to her, one where she is in complete control...for the most part and for right now. Nina believes in what ifs, what could have been and second chances, and she thinks everyone else should too. She justifies keeping Sonny in the dark because she thinks he deserves a second chance and peace, oh right, how could I forget “peace”, her new rationale for pursuing a relationship with a dead man.
A life with Mike is possible in the alternate universe called Nixon Falls where a bunch of what ifs have come to be. To Nina, her feelings for Mike are real, and to be with him, his memory needs to stay gone, along with everyone he has ever known. In this universe it is certain that a murderous young woman could have been anything else IF only someone stepped in earlier. Nina has been acting out her issues about Nelle Benson (Chloe Lanier) on Sonny from day one. Her recent visit to Port Charles seemed to give her a dose of reality and when that reality becomes too overwhelming...her alternate universe awaits.
